How women lost independence

Recently, I saw the recently released movie, Cocktail. The plot revolves around a philanderer hero who has to make the tough choice between two hot women. This modern movie was set in London. The characters drank, danced in nightclubs and had one-night stands with aplomb. They worked in new-age aspirational jobs like glamour photography, graphic art and software design. And yet, the guy eventually chooses the girl who cooks home food, dresses conservatively, wins his mother's approval and is happy to be the ideal Indian wife. In fact, even the rejected girl, a free-spirited, independent woman agrees to change herself. To get the guy, she is happy to cook and change her lifestyle to match that of the ideal Indian wife. 

While the movie was fun, the moral of the movie says "choose the women based on values". Well the values it imposes are cooking, scared to talk, do household works, etc. Now they say its our culture and tradition. The truth is, it is not.

We have more women Gods than the male one. Those God are not just cooking or helping the men. They have their own poser and does their job independently. Even in our puraanas,  the female Gods were acted independently.

  Lets take cooking. It is a great art, it was developed irrespective of gender. Lets see how it became women responsibility. When we are hunters, women stayed home and managed home and society. Mens were hunters, Guards, warriors. while mens were away. Women developed society. she also developed infrastructure for the society. she organized her home and surrounding. she took care of  child development. Hunters are powerful but they are very patient and sharp minded. So when the child grows up men took them for hunting, teach the techniques and helping them.

when her children got away, women had time to invent things. slowly she innovated agriculture. The need for hunting is reduced. Now men saw his home is peaceful and enjoyable. he started to show interest on agriculture, and developed in massive. Now women sees mens were happy. They want to keep him happy. She started thinking about decoration. The next level of innovations were on the way. she started creating ornaments, dresses, beauty products. Now men who are successful with agriculture got lovely life and peace. He got an idea to develop women's innovation at massive. Now he is into asthetic product business. 

Soon industrialization came into world. for few 1000 years we are industrializing things around us. suddenly men became busy in his work. He don't have the patience that he had when he was hunter. So he become helpless to take care of children. Now women got additional responsibility of childcare. men, now cannot handle cooking effectively, they again become helpless in that. cooking became additional responsibility for women. Now women became very busy. She wants to unload somethings. Men picked more outside work. women felt good and she took care of home. 

Men needed some entertainment in his work. So he innovated/ developed that are accessible when he is at work. soon he became comfortable with that. He started spending more time at work. This is the first time he is enjoying outside of family. so he wanted to make sure his family are safe when he is busy at work. So he created some boundaries to his family. Now women wants to come out of her home and see the society she developed. She is shocked to see it became mens world.  She feels less secured.

In order to address this safety men took a wrong path. Instead of addressing the root cause, he imposed few restrictions to the women. Soon this restrictions became culture. The later generations made it as traditions. Now she receives less knowledge on world compared to men. her innovation gets restricted. Now everything is seen through men's eyes. Men thinks this is the happy way of living. Though inner conscious of the women feels bad, gets used to it and started thinking this is how we have to live.

Thus she lost independence. Now watch the movie mentioned above. What do u feel ?. It is not a change we can bring in one night. even if it changes, she is not ready to brag and use it properly. It may take 100s or 1000s of years. But it is time to start.
